DaVinci what?

So I'm reading the DaVinci code, and there's one thing i can't figure out. Why is it that any fiction writer assumes it's ok to write about Christianity in a way they would never consider writing about Islam(for fear of national riots), Judaism, or Buddhism? Is it that Christians don't take it seriously enough? Is it that non-Christians in the western world don't see Christianity as a "real" religion, but as an institution that is exposed to debate? What are your thoughts?

Jon,

Although I haven't read the book,I'll offer my $.02. I think most people figure we are a 'safe target'. I actually view it as an attack..an attempt to draw Christians into hypocritical behavior. They will throw the 'turn the other cheek' verse or 'Love thy enemies and pray for those who persecute you' verse at us if we raise an eyebrow.
Of all the religions Christianity is the only one that poses a threat to satan. So we find more and more books, movies, editorials, etc. aimed at discrediting our beliefs. satan obviously wants to keep those who are in the dark right where they are, but, he also will do whatever he can to get believers to begin doubting and thus rendering them ineffective in spreading the Gospel.
At least that's my opinion.
