Course Description

This course is designed to teach the basic principles of inductive bible study, general hermeneutics and the use of tools for independent bible study.

Course Objectives

Each student will develop the skills necessary for them to study the bible by themselves.
Each student will develop excitement for bible study.
Each student will develop the confidence in their own ability to study the bible.
Each student will be able to feed themselves from God's word.

Course Requirements

Read the book of Ephesians 7 times straight through the book during the time of this class.
Prepare an outline chart of the book of Epheisans.
Complete a background study of the book of Ephesians.
List 25 legitimate observations of Ephesians 2:4-7
Complete a syntatcitc analysis of Ephesians 2:4-7.
Analyze the structure of Psalm 8.
Complete a word study on the Greek word translated “grace,” using Ephesians 2:1-9 as the target text.
Write a paragraph explaining the meaning of Ephesians 2:4-7, phrase by phrase.
Write a paragraph explaining how you will apply Epheisans 2:1-9 in your life.

Course Instructor: Ken Carson.
Course Time: Wednesdays: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Course Cost: $10.00 recommended donation.
Required Textbook: New American Standard Bible, without study notes or headings ! Available for $5.00.
Also Required: Access to the NASB Exhaustive Concordance with Strong's Numbers. You can purchase this (Amazon has it for $27.19), or you can access it on-line if you have internet access at http://www.biblestudytools.net.
Provided with the class: E-Sword bible software (cost included in course cost).
Optional Textbook: How to Read the Bible For All It's Worth , by Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stuart. $15.00 donation.
